Long ago I used to work in the kitchen of a large College. One of my duties was to crack eggs for the next days breakfast. So you placed 10 flats of eggs on the counter and a 5 gallon bucket on either side of the flats, and using both hands you cracked eggs. I got really good at this......... now with my neuropathy I can't even pick an egg up out of the carton. I have to wet my fingers and maul it in order to get it out and I must always crack into a separate bowl because it seems now I have THE HULKS strength and I tend to crush them.
The little plastic rings around the cap of a gallon of milk, with the little tiny tab sticking up for you to pull....... cannot grab it.
Glasses or cups have to have big handles or else my fingers don't feel they are holding anything so they let go.
I crush a can of pop when I hold it because my brain and my fingers can't get the message on how much pressure is needed to hold the can.
My fingers can no longer hold a pen and my once beautiful handwriting is worse than my husbands who we always teased had the worst hand writing
.
The little button on the door that locks it when you turn it........ can't turn it.
Can't tie shoes anymore....... my grand kids think it's because I don't know how.... that's a good place to leave it.
I can't use wash rags, instead I use scrubbers with straps I can hang on to.
I can't cut my own fingernails or toenails. My fingers can't hold the Clippers. This is all due to the sensitivity in my fingertips. They don't feel anything so it is as if they're clueless that they are holding anything.
Plastic bottles such as shampoo, dish soap, cleaning bottle, that have no handles or indentations are extremely hard to hold.... same theory like pop can.
These are just little annoyances of having peripheral neuropathy
Switching subjects, Tuesday night by son is coming over to take the boat out to the lake where we have it moored until October. I am so excited about going out on the lake Tuesday evening. This place where we moor our boat is open until 10 PM but of course you can spend the night on your boat, we have not because we have no cover to keep the mosquitoes from munching on us.
I love boating and love being out on the boat all day I can't understand people who don't but I guess that's why there's so many choices in life of things to do because snow skiing and golf I don't give a hoot about... so guess it's the same for boating for some folk.
Until........
