This Saturday we are having a family BBQ to celebrate my youngest grandson turning 5. He's the one with the white shirt. He and my only grand daughter belong to my daughter. The other 2 boys belong to my son.
After the BBQ the kids are staying with us for 2 days, thats about all they can handle before the picking and fighting begins. Hopefully they have grown since their last stay and can stay longer. Hubby and I have no living parents or family we are close to, so we work hard to gather the grandkids together to form family bonds. My daughter and son don't involve each others family that much in their live,so Hubby and I try to step in and make sure at least the cousins get time together. Bonding is important and hopefully will substain. I think it's important to develope this.
I suggested trying for a week but Hubby said NO, he wouldn't be able to handle that. I probably can't either, but wish I could. They grow so fast and soon enough staying at the grandparents will lose the magic.
So I am going shopping for food and drinks and snacks and crossing my fingers we make the 2 nights and more.
