The work chair

During the day I use this chair for working. I transfer from my power chair to this roll chair. From here I can get into the laundry room. Very easy to do that job. Much easier now that I have a front loading washer. Before my front loader I would have to get as close as I could to the washer then reach in and blindly search for clothes to pull out. It's not easy peering into the washer from a sitting position. I also had a stick with a hook similar to the gripper sticks you see advertised to pull out the clothes I couldn't reach. My front loader is a real gift for me.
From this chair I can load and unload the dishes and get in close to the sink to scrub pots. Sweep and mop. Clean the bathroom and take a shower (shower chair another chair). Sometimes all the rolling or heel walking (going forward) makes me tired. Sometimes I go screaming into this chair ....I never liked chores when I could walk and have not develop a love for them now. However it has to be done so you do it. From my power chair I cook. However cooking from the side is hard as my counters and stove are not built to just pull up to closely. We purchased a long card table and a multi-plug with 8 plug-ins available. On this table is my food processor, my electric can opener, my electric potato peeler. It's wide enough to handle my griddle or dutch oven or fry pan or crock pot or my one burner I use for things one cooks in a pot and for boiling. I like using my roll chair for gathering to the tables items needed for cooking because in the power chair you only have one hand to use as the other is needed for driving and this requires more trips.
My kids have grown and moved out so normally it's just me and hubby so this system works good for us as I no longer cook Hugh multi stuff meals. It's just another way for me to remain some what normal and with PN that's important.
