The " Kids"

These two are at home kids now. Our three adult kids long ago flew the nest and when we bought our home and when I no longer worked and went on disability.....well hubby thought I'd be lonely......So we went to the shelter and adopted Maggie.....she a Puggle....beagle/pup mix. It's a standing joke between myself and hubby the real reason we got her..let's just say, she's Daddy's' girl. We thought Maggie was lonely with just me all day because once hubby got home she became a Hugh ball of energy where with me she just laid around. Now grant it I'm not great physical fun for her but I tossed toys and chased her in my chair........but she LOVES him. Funny how two people can love something equally........yet. Anyways when he came home at night he would chase and play until HE was worn out and it just didn't seem enough for Maggie....so we decided to find her a playmate and into our life came Max who's a beagle. In this picture they are playing tug-a-war. It's a fave game with their toys and our clothes when we don't catch them. We know little about their lives before coming to us. Maggie was a Mom at one time before the shelter and we got her. She still is to Max even though he is bigger and stronger. She cleans him several times a day and he just lays there sometimes enjoying it sometimes just enduring it. Maggie was found wandering. No one came to claim her. She's such a hoot. Dances, sits, lays down and spins on her hind legs which suggest someone worked with her.......yet no one came forward. I wonder if dogs remember......feel lose and sadness? We figure with Max who was 1 1/2 when we got him that we were his fourth owners with the last owner seeing he was fixed and rid of sores and sickness he had when they got him from a friend who found him wandering. How sad a life for such a sweet boy he is. Does Max wear Maggie out? Occasionally........but generally his life consists of daily squirrel tracking and sleeping. Maggie supposedly being half beagle resembles him very little. They don't look like each other. She could care less about the squirrels, she tracks little but she does enjoy napping. She cries if we take her in the car. She prefers home. When we went camping at the beach last year she whined most of the time until she was home where as Max had a great time sniffing and howling hello to everyone. I know......enough about the dogs already.

I'd give anything to know what my Sadie's past was. She was over a year old when we adopted her at a shelter; they said someone brought her in as a stray.

I believe God meant her for me.
